What a watch design consultancy does
fuzion is an independent Swiss watch design studio and design consultancy based in Switzerland. We work with watch brands and independent watchmakers across the full arc of a project — from the first sketch through specification, prototyping and production handover.
A watch design consultancy sits between three disciplines: industrial design, watchmaking, and brand strategy. The work asks for a holistic view — case, dial, movement, materials, finishing and the product story all considered together. Our brief is simple: design watches that are quietly confident, mechanically honest, and built to outlive the season they were made in.
The studio is small and works by appointment, taking on a small number of considered commissions each year. Our practice spans haute horlogerie, mechanical watch movements, skeleton watches, engine-turned cases, dial and movement design, and the broader discipline of luxury product design. We are based in Switzerland but work with brands worldwide.

fuzion offers a complete watch design service. Each engagement is shaped to the brief, but most projects draw on the following.

Product strategy & design direction We help define what the watch wants to be — positioning, audience, price architecture, the place it occupies in the brand's catalogue. Strategy is the work that comes before the sketch.

Watch design — case, dial, hands, crown The external watch design: case architecture, dial composition, hand sets, crown and pusher language, bezel geometry. We move from broad concept studies to high-fidelity renders and technical drawings.

Movement architecture & engineering In close dialogue with the watchmaker, we shape the movement to support the dial and case rather than fight them. Mechanical watch movement design, skeleton and openwork architecture, automatic and manual calibres.

Materials, finishing & CMF Specification of cases, dials and movement components: steel, gold, titanium and ceramic; lacquered, guilloché and engine-turned dials; anglage, polishing, brushing and frosted finishes. We work toward a finished object that reads cleanly at the wrist.

Prototyping & production support We follow the watch through prototype validation, technical plans for external parts, and pre-production runs. The studio stays involved through to handover, working directly with the brand's manufacturing partners.

Brand identity & creative direction For brands at an earlier stage we can extend into broader brand work — visual identity, packaging, the product's communication world. The watch and the brand around it shaped as one piece.

Industrial & luxury product design Beyond watchmaking, fuzion takes on selected industrial and luxury product design commissions — writing instruments, accessories, instruments. Same restraint, same level of finish.
How we work
Most engagements follow a familiar arc. We adapt the depth at each stage to what the brief actually needs.

Brief We sit with the brand's own team and listen. Positioning, audience, market, price range, the manufacturing constraints, the movement on the table. Together we define what the watch needs to be.

Exploration A spread of concept directions — sketches, mood pieces, broad studies. We explore widely first, then refine toward two or three serious propositions worth taking forward.

Direction We work the chosen direction toward resolution — case architecture, dial composition, movement layout, materials and finishing — in high-fidelity renders and the early technical drawings.

Engineering In dialogue with the watchmaker and the engineers, the design is checked against manufacture. Tolerances, assembly logic, the things the dial sees and the things only the back sees.

Prototype First prototypes built. We sit with them, wear them, judge them against the original intent. Adjustments made. Specification finalised.

Production handover The studio stays close through pre-production and the start of series. We work directly with the brand's suppliers and manufacturing partners to make sure the watch that ships is the watch that was designed.
